ἀλλʼ ἐκεῖνος μὲν οὐκ ἔφθη ταῦτα κινῆσαι καὶ προαγαγεῖν εἰς ἔργον, ὑπὸ λύπης καὶ δυσθυμίας προέμενος τὸν βίον ἔγνω γὰρ ἀδίκως τὸν ἕτερον τῶν υἱῶν Δημήτριον ἐκ διαβολῆς τοῦ χείρονος ἀνῃρηκώς·But Philip, before he could put these plans and preparations into effect, died of grief and anguish of mind In 179 B.C. ; for he came to know that he had unjustly put to death one of his sons, Demetrius, on false charges made by the other, who was his inferior.
