nanAristotle says that when the female Partridge gets to leeward of the male bird, by some mysterious process of nature she becomes impregnated. This bird builds its nest in seven days, and in seven days lays its eggs, and in the same number of days rears its chicks. Timaeus, Heraclides, and Diocles the physician state that Toads have two livers, and that one of them is deadly, while the other is its natural rival, for it brings health.
